Generally speaking Great Danes are relatively low energy breed. All danes need a good walk as part of their daily exercise, and the occasional Zoomies to get the extra wiggles out, For most parr, a Danes favorite activities include holding the couch to the floor, securing the rug down, napping in sunbeams and testing the softness of the bed. Like all generalizations there are exceptions. A quick search on the internet provides stories and videos of danes who are excelling at all kinds of high energy sport… even Agility.
One of those Agility Champions is our very own Lucy! Lucy and her FURever dad have been practicing agility and have competed at the last two Rescue Kennel Club Dog shows. The RKC hosts two dog shows a year for Rescue Dogs and features various categories. Lucy has shown off her skills on the catwalk, jumping thru hoops, climbing the teeter totter, and weaving in and out. Lucy has placed 2nd and 4th in agility the last two shows! This fall she also competed a more “dane” like category Best Kisser and placed 1s! YEAH LUCY you go girl!
While we can’t ever guarantee your adopted dane will be an agility Champion like Lucy, she does show that with training our danes can do anything
