So Mary and Kim took the seats out of the suburbans, spread out some old blankets, got the capstar, leashes, collars and called the babysitters so we could make the almost 6 hour round trip drive to go get these dudes. We set out not sure what we would find but prepared for anything…..
When we pulled up we were greeted by one very curious Ollie..(Honestly we were not sure he wasn’t going to eat us) and a shy Stanley. Clearly these boys needed an experienced hand… it was obvious that every move hurt! Their skin was very raw and the infection large open oozing spots on large parts of their bodies; they had the stench of demodex; and what fur remained was course and brittle and would come out in clumps if you rubbed it too hard. They did not bark, wag their tales, give kisses or show any emotion that we all have become so accustomed in our dogs……
Stanley and Ollie have spent two weeks at our vet and have moved to a foster home to continue in their treatment and recovery… so far so good… It is expected that their care be more than $1,000
