Albus has found FURever

All our dogs are special to us but some are just a little more "special" due to bad breeding, Albus's swim in the shallow end of the gene pool meant he was born considerably vision and hearing impaired. He sees very little and hears some... We have experienced foster homes who work with blind/deaf dogs using a combination of scent and touch signals to train these dogs and get them ready for their furever homes.

They are also "special" because b/d dogs require "special" furever homes that have some experience, and are willing to open their home to a dog you have to teach beyond the basics... Sometimes these dogs stay with us a little longer so that the perfect FURever home can find us.

I am so excited to say that home has found Albus and not only has continued his training but taking it another level. Albus is loving life with his new humom and dane brother.

Paisley is FURever Home

Her foster mom nick named her "rabbit" because her ears are so expressive. This sweet girl came to us with a skin infection that look some time to resolve but none of it effected her happy disposition and love for life. Paisley was found by a sweet soul who knew she needed medical attention and turner her into the city shelter who immediately contacted us... so after some good vet care, foster home love and a little time....

Paisley has found her perfect FURever home. Together with her skin sister these two little perfect princesses will be life long best friends. So congrats to Paisley and her new FURever family.

Miss Betsey

Well, Miss Betsey's family finally arrived! After waiting and trying to find the magic family-it happened. Betsey was adopted this past weekend. She now has a young couple has her new parents. Betsey will be an only dog--YIPPEE The queen will have the attention she needs. A huge yard, her own dining area and talks of her own couch! What more can this gal have. Yea for Betsey

Turbo the Terrific

Turbo the Terrific found his forever home! He was adopted by a fantastic family that is dane savy. Turbo has a new older fur sister that is showing him the ropes of the house. He has learned to use the doggy door and is improving on his leash skills. The family kid are even able to walk him! Turbo is head over hills in love with his new Mom. She said he is her shadow and takes every opportunity to "dane lean" on her.

Congrats to all!

Second Time is a Charm!

Once a GDRNT dog.. ALWAYS a GDRNT dog. Life happens... and it isn't my place to judge... (at least not here:) but sometimes an adopted GDRNT dog finds itself in a changing home life situation that is no longer suitable for them.... Our adoption contract has a provision for any GDRNT dog to come back into the program. It does not happen often but it does happen...

Rocco has Scored!

Rescue means different things to different people. Once again found myself explaining it to a wide eyed stranger...about how special our dogs our, how amazing it is to see a frightened animal become a FURever family member, how our fosters/volunteers give so much... how it is a drop I the ocean.....

Home for Ole Blue Eyes

Big, blue-eyed moose came into rescue with a heavy case of heartworms. With several weeks of treatments under his belt and a loving foster mom. He was ready to find his home. Moose found a home with three active kids and a Mom that was needing a love bug dog. They fell in love at first sight of his blue eyes. At last check, Moose has warmed up to the family and all the neighborhood kids. Safe to say everyone is Happy!!

New Year, New Furever Homes!

2015 is off to a busy start! Intake has picked up, and our foster homes are full to bursting. Happily, some of our sweet dogs found wonderful furever homes in January, and it looks like there may be a few more soon.

Buzz Lightyear

2015 Annual Member Meeting

The 2015 annual members meeting for all paid members will be held on Saturday. February 21st at 2:00 pm in Dallas Texas. Even if you can not attend the meeting this is a great way to support all of the good work that rescue does! Every bit of your annual dues goes to help the sick, injured and neglected dogs that we are able to save from death row.

Bella is FURever HOME

Bella is such a sweet lady but at adoption meetings she would seem aloof and her charm was easy to overlook. Her foster family had nothing but high reports for what a lady Bella was! Well you know how it can be... frequently foster dogs are waiting for just the right FURever home. Always the polite lady at adoption meetings but just nope..... Until that perfect moment when a foster dog knows... YES This is my FURever humom!
