Good News ... Not so Good News.. and how you can help.

Those of you who have followed this know that silence is not always golden. When I am not posting regularly it is usually because we are slammed across the board. That simple. March has come in like a hungry pissed off Lion and we are ready to turn the calendar over to April:)
There is good news.. while spring break has slowed adoption meetings down we do have one FURever home. Ms. Nia came to us from an area shelter with a glowing report from shelter staff. Apparently she managed to win over the entire staff and I can see why. This sweet dane has a heart of gold and was so wanting for love that she learned quickly. She let us know she was ready for a family and she really really wanted kids to follow around. I knew we had the perfect home for her! Last weekend we took her to meet her FURever family and while the young son was originally unsure, he quickly melted at Nia's charm. Nia and the daughter will make quite a beautiful pair on their regular walks. I love when it happens this way... when a foster walks into the home and knows immediately they are FURever home. That was how it was with Nia and her FURever family. It is beautiful to see and why we do what we do.

So far in March we have taken in 10 danes.. and you may have noticed none have gone on the Dane Available page yet... as I sit and look at the list there are two we can add this weekend, two we got this week will be ready soon but the rest are all undergoing specific medical treatment. Several are undergoing heartworm treatment, two others are on extended antibiotics for a nasty, nasty, nasty persistent respiratory infection, one recovering parvo girl, and yet another Emergency veterinary bill. YIKES. While everyone is expected to be fine and eventually make it to the Available list they are having to stay longer and require more expensive veterinary care.
