Okay, so i know it is NOT recommended to 'rescue' on your own with so many we have here in the foster system and with good evaluations. But my heart went out to a family who had a dane puppy (and a full grown dane) that they were 'selling'. The father had gotten laid off from his job several months back, they had two young kiddos, and were definitely struggling. The puppy was 4.5 months old roughly and had never been to the vet(!) and i was told her favorite food was ol' roy.

10 more days until we get Rufus, & we've almost made all of our decisions & purchases for kennel/toys/feeder/treats... the only thing we're still really curious about is Training for our little pup.
Are there any places in Dallas that you've taken your Dane to get trained or just socialized? I'm worried that the weather will be cold & there won't be a lot of places to take him to meet other puppies (do we have to wait until ALL of his immunization shots are done, or since he's up to date with everything, can we start taking him out to meet other pups soon after we get him?).

My husband & I did a LOT of research before deciding to get our Great Dane, Rufus, but there are a few things we'd love to talk to other owners about....

My puppy is growing fast the only thing is im having trouble because i think she is is allergic to grass.. :( she breaks out in hives and bumps all over her body. i have taken her to the vet and the put her on steroids but the only thing it looks like it works is not letting her play in the grass which i hate not letting her cause she loves it and giving her baths.. Please let me know if theres anything i should be doing or that it help before i have to take her to a dermotaligist and have to spend 700$ which i wont mind if she doesnt get better in the next few months.

the always hyper , second place kiss contest winner (at highland village petco last year), crazy puppy??? well here she is grown up!! She flew to Alaska Friday and is back with her people. I have to say I am verrrrry impressed with her. Still has most of her good mannors that I worked so hard to teach!! She did counter surf on me Saturday night. Knocked perscriptions and Vitamins off the counter and didnt touch them - she was after the bag of pig ears mom left on the counter- (oh and she did eat the whole bag incase you were wondering)!!!

Okay, brace yourself I have lots to say/ask…
For five years, I did my research on Great Danes; reading books, reading online, talking to other Great Dane owners, planning financially, etc. Well, three weeks ago I brought home my beautiful black female Great Dane puppy.
I want to do adoption/fostering eventually but thought that in the long run it would be a good idea to start with a puppy of my own. That way I get to know the breed under normal circumstances before I take one in that essentially needs to be rehabilitated. Anyway, back to the puppy…

Hi everyone, I've recently stumbled across this forum and think it's fantastic! Great reading all round, lots of good advice and beautiful danes. So I thought I'd introduce myself and a little someone...
My fiancee (Roz) and I have had 2 danes before (RIP) and will soon have another 2 puppies on our hands (due on our doorstep in two weeks).
In the meantime, this is my Mums little guy - Roadie. He is almost 11 weeks. Quite a handful, but classic dane. Loves to sleep and groan when you pat him. He has lately taken to my little nieces couch... pic attached.
