Ok, so we've had the same insurance company for 8 years - our renewal went up 44%, so I started shopping around. Apparently (according to 2 different independent agents), Great Danes are considered vicious dogs and I've been quoted rates, but then denied the actual policy because they won't write homeowners in Texas if you have a "vicious dog breed". So...has anyone else run into this?

I've missed everyone so very much! I'm so sorry I've been away from the forum. Life can get difficult and distracting. In November of 10' I was diagnosed with Lupus, and there seems to be only one Rheumatologist in town so I've been waiting a very long time for treatment. It sure isn't fun getting old either! Many of my joints are falling apart, degenerative joint disease, connective tissue disease, degenerative disk disease...yikes! The same doc was going to treat that too! Finally I've received several shots in my right knee that are supposed to cushion the blow...it's too soon to tell!

We have an Dane Dad who is in a town house in FW, he is currently on crutches due to some surgery and is having a hard time dealing with crutches, stairs and active dane. He is looking for a dog walker in Fort Worth. Anybody know someone?
I haven't been online in a long time. I havent left the house much. It appears the year of loss wasnt yet over. We lost 4 pets in 8 days. I got a call during that horrible cold spell begging the rescue of two newborn kittens. The mama had given birth in a driveway and left. Two kittens were alive and a third that the mama hadnt even bothered to clean the placenta from was not. The woman who found them did not take them into her warm home but left them in the storage shed until I got there. We called them Blue and Sky. Blue lived for 3 days before succumbing to pneumonia.
The Petsmart near me (Flower Mound) had dog coats on sale for either 50% or 75% off last night, depending on the style. There were several for 75% off in Dane sizes. Thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else dresses their dog.
