Feeding Amounts

Hi everyone, we are the proud parents of a 12 week male dane. He has been home for 2 weeks now. It was a big decision to get a puppy but was the best one for our household. We have 5 birds in size from parakeet to macaw and felt training a pup around them would be better than an adult. Currently I work from home so I am the main caregiver for the Puppy (Max).

I have a few questions about how much to increase his food and when. I am currently feeding him 4 times a day because with 3 he was constantly hungry and searching for food. We are feeding Chicken Soup by Diamond large adult breed and he is doing good on it. I switched him from pedigree adult food over the course of 3 feedings when I brought him home and he was dewormed by the vet. Now we have a normal poop schedule and all looks good.

I am now wondering if he is getting enough food. I am giving him 3/4 cup at every feeding for a total of 3 cups a day. He weighed 12.5 pounds on Jan 6 and 15.5 pounds on Jan 13 and we have not weighed yet today (we weigh at night before last feeding when tummy is empty). He is also getting training treats for going potty outside but those are very tiny.

The information I can find only refers to feeding by age and I was wondering with danes if it should be by weight or growth. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kristie
