Leash Help!

So, Bruce is pretty much perfect...EXCEPT his leash walking! And even then, he isn't THAT bad. We are having a terrible problem with him when any person bike riding, on a scooter, jogging, or just out in their yard is around. He decides to jump up and down and do a yelping type bark. It's not a mean bark. He either is scared, nervous or he wants their attention. It is quite embarassing for me because I am afraid people think I can't handle my gianormous dog! Previously, Bruce was trained through Barkbusters. Their form of "NO" is a growl. I met with one of their trainers the other day and Bruce was perfect with the growling until the trainer left. When it was my turn to growl, he pretty much laughed in my face and thought it was time to play. I think I am giving up on the growling because NO seems to do the trick. That brings me to my question...does anyone have any recommendations on how to break this leash habit. I want to be able to walk him around the neighborhood without too much drama! Thanks for any help :)
