This past Sunday, we had thunderstorms (our first with our new Great Dane, Harley) and I was shocked at how unconsolably terrified he was. When the storms started we were not home, but the thunder was the rolling kind and wasn't even really loud. About 15 minutes after the storm started we arrived home to find him frantic. He tore up the wooden blinds on the door and made his gums bleed because he was biting at them, he tore up the vinyl floor in the laundry room and was hyperventilating. The hard breathing and excessive(even for him) drooling continued for hours and he hid in my husbands dark closet for about an hour. I don't care that he tore some things up, I am worried that he was so scared. Any tips on what I can do for him? No creature should be that scared and I hear the we are in for more storms on Friday.
