What a sweetheart

I love how good great danes are with children. Chief looks like such a gentle big boy. You and your family look beautiful!! You all look so happy! Hope to see you at DaneFest! I can't stop thinking about it, this will be my first year and im already ready for next year!!! lol

Danefest!

Hi Danielle! I REALLY want to go to Danefest, but am sad to say I don't think I'll be able to make it this year! : (
I'd have to leave Austin really early & I'd have to dedicate the entire day/evening to the event (any other weekend I'd be all over it!), but I have to make several trips out to a storage unit that morning. . not to mention...the weenie dog festival in Buda! Ha! No, I don't have a weenie dog, but my family thought it would be a fun day trip for us all seeing that Buda is so close to Austin. I doubt Chief and I will make it to that event, but rest assured that we will be thinking of you all and wishing we were there with you to play!!! Oh, we REALLY DO want to go!! Next year, for sure!
Let me know if you guys ever come down to Austin and we'll schedule a playdate!

~Stephanie

I've heard that weenie dog

I've heard that weenie dog festival is a lot of fun, you could make Chief an honorary weenie dog and make a little hot dog bun outfit to wear for the day he could be a jumbo weenie.

HA! LOVE it!!! I am bummed

HA! LOVE it!!! I am bummed to miss you folks at DaneFest. I want to meet you all!!

What a handsome boy!!

Congratulations with your new family member and welcome to the board! Chief is really quite a handsome boy!

Our very first Dane, Tundra, was a black and white and looked very much like Chief...kindred spirits! We hope Chief brings you all the happiness that our girl Tundra did for us 30 years ago...yikes can't believe it's been that long ago!

Lots of happiness and please keep these great pictures coming!!!

Ah!

Ah, my soft spot -- Danes and kids. Can't get much better. Congrats to you and your new addition!

Awesome!

Is Chief also known as Snickers? Congrats on your new addition. The photos are great! I love to hear the new first time stories. Keep us updated on your new voyage with a Dane in your home and family. They have the best personalities!

Nick!

Nick! Snickers! Chief! Whatever...He's found his forever home. Yea! I'm glad to hear things are working out well Stephanie. I've been wondering about you. You were so torn between Addison and Nick. I'd like you to keep me updated but quite honestly I rarely get on these boards - so if you could send me an email periodically to jenniferneily [at] yahoo [dot] com, I would so appreciate it. Good luck and love the pix!

Jennifer

I am SO in love with Chief, it is ridiculous!!!! He really is a total sweetheart!!!

I look forward to chatting with you soon!

Love,Stephanie

Hello!

You ladies are awesome! Yes, he is also known as "Snickers". As I understand it, "Snickers" was the name given to him by the volunteer that picked him up at the shelter. I have always kept the original name given to my animal friends, but "Chief" just seems to fit him. I thought I would try to keep the "Nick" in there somewhere, but it just didn't feel right. I think the decision to change it came easier to me once I acknowledged the fact that he was being called 3 different names..and my tenant's name happens to be "Nick" as well!

We went back to the vet today to get more medicine for his infected eye. I am praying that the infection clears up soon.

Chief made more of an effort today to get into the car on his own. This is good news! He jumped up on his hind legs and put his front paws inside the car, I then had to lift up his bottom half into the car. Have any of you experienced this? I know he is capable of jumping into the car on his own, but he doesn't seem to want to. I hope this is just a phase because I'll give myself a hernia if I continue to do this for much longer!

Hope you and your pups are well. They are all so gorgeous!

Need a boost...

LOL.. the way you describe Chief needing help into the car is exactly the way Mazy is at getting on the bed! She will put her two front legs up... lay her belly next to the bed.. and wait for someone to come pick up her back half and get her the rest of the way up! Lazy Mazy! If we're in another room or something, and she wants up.. she will lay her front end up on the bed and sit there a be all whiney until someone comes to her rescue! She has us trained really well!

Chief

Omg are you serious?
This is the dog that always tried to ride in our laps wherever we went.
He always jumped right in my SUV with no problems at all.
He prob just needs time to adjust is all. He will come around I am sure.

Susan

Congrats!~

When did you adopt him? He looks VERY happy in his new home!Congrats! We love pics!
Sara (Bubba Chad's and Shammy's mom)

Hi Sara!

I drove up to Dallas two Sundays ago (Sunday, April 6th) with my sister to meet a couple of the danes from my match list. I fell in love with Chief and took him home with me that afternoon!

I would love to meet Bubba Chad and Shammy someday soon!
