We just had our water softener fixed and I'm wondering if there is any health concerns associated with the dogs drinking that softened water? I've tried to look online and I read a couple articles how people with dietary concerns should install a bypass water source to the softener or use a purifier but for most people it's considered safe. I wonder though if it's safe for the dogs? We do have a filter on our fridge but it dispenses very slowly and takes about 15 minutes to fill Bailey's gallon drinking bowl. If I have to use that filter I'm looking at an hour each day to fill his outside/inside bowls 2x/day! Is it necessary? Any advice?
