A few weeks ago we had an intense storm that caused a power outage. It only lasted for a moment or two, but the loud clicking of the TV system and the lights going out really scared Jinxie!!!
It's odd, because she's never been scared before from power outages, but this one really upset her. She hovered closed to me and Loyd and wouldn't sit or lay down.
We know not to comfort her too much because it could make things worse. Our Dane, C.C. was traumatized by being in the Northridge earthquake in California in 1994. She got really upset every time it stormed after that. She'd try to get in my lap and just trembled...it ripped our hearts out.
But a 7.0 earthquake is much worse that the clicking of components going off. So today it happened again and she desperately wanted to get outside, but then didn't want to come back in the house!!!
I took her collar to guide her and she wouldn't budge!! So I went inside and left the door open and called her for some pets and she finally came back inside. I just hate that she's so upset from something I have no control over.
I can't help but wonder if that sound has triggered a memory from her past??? Something that really upset her.
Again, we know not to make a big deal about it, but it breaks my heart to see her so upset...any suggestions?
