Just wanted to post an update on Ike's condition.
He had to have surgery on Wednesday and we were able to bring him home yesterday afternoon. The ended up removing most of the sack around his heart as well as some sort of mass that was at the base of his heart. The vet said that the mass didnt' seem to be cancerous but, we can't know until the test results come in. They sent in a lot of various tissue samples for testing and biopsies. OF course, it's a weeks wait for results.
Once he's had a chance to heal (3-4 weeks restricted activity) we will then re-do the echocardiogram to see if his heart is enlarged. There was previous evidence of enlargement and I've been counseled that it very well could be DCM. But, the test results so far have been shown enlargements that could be subjective to all the fluid build up.
Lots of waiting and worrying ahead of us.
But, for now... our big boy is home and SO happy to be here. Joey is DELERIOUS that Ike is home! Joey was so lost while Ike was gone.
I knew, in my mind, that the incision from Ike's surgery had to be pretty large but, I was still floored when I saw it the first time. Poor baby has 32 staples! And to top it off... he got a really bad haircut. THe least of our worries of course :-)

OMG that pic is scary....is he in any pain from that or are the pain meds keeping him comfy? PLEASE keep posting updates on this sweet, sweet guy. You know I'll be praying for you all and for all Ike's test results to come back "normal". Sending you a big hug!!!
