I'm very concerned about my big sweetie. He has been going down over the past month and quickly over the past week. Blood work shows he has very low thyroid and blood in his urine. He seems to be in pain, has a hard time getting up, holds one of his back legs up (no walking on it). He refused to eat this morning and if his fosters remember him, they know this alone is very scary. He was starving when he first came to rescue and has never had a problem eating whatever you put in front of him. So to turn down chicken and rice is unheard of. I'm already down 750.00 with diagnostics and have to consider how much farther I can go. We now are going to put him on a narcotic pain reliever to see if it is the pain that is keeping him from eating. The vet has found tenderness in his spine and says it could be arthritis. (Forgive my spelling) But could that have set in so quickly? Four weeks ago he was playing and romping around, stretching, going into the playbow. Also, my vet has a x-ray machine more for about 50 pounders and is concerned about getting a good x-ray on a Great Dane. I've forgotten the vet that helped me with Vinny and hope somebody can refresh my memory on this vet in Dallas. Help!!
