So you will be prepared the next time someone asks......
Q: "How did he get soooo big?"
A: "We put Miracle Grow in his water."
Q: "Do you have a saddle for that thing?"
A: "Oh no, he's been trained to carry me in his mouth."
Q: "What kind of dog is that?"
A: "It's not really a dog, it's a Holstien. He's just a little confused."
Q: "How much does he eat?"
A: "Two kids a week"
Q: "Why is he so big?"
A: "We live near a nuclear power plant."
Q: "Does he bite?"
A: "Only on Tuesdays. Oops, that's today, isn't it?"
Q: "How much does he eat?"
A: "How much do you weigh?"
Q: "Can I ride him?"
A: "No, he charges too much"
Q: "What do you feed a 150-pound dog?"
A: "Anything he wants."
Q: "Have you fed that thing today?"
A: "Why? Are are you missing a kid?"
Q: "Why does he have one blue eye and one brown eye?"
A: "He had two different fathers."

soooo funny!!!!
I have lived with dogs my whole life but Barnum and Bailey are my first ever Danes/ giant dogs. I'm shocked how much interest people have in them and often feel like I'm on the witness stand! I actually wait until dark to do the evening walk because it can take 2 hours just to go 1/4 mile! The worst part is B&B are puppies....not nearly full grown! People often think they are adult, thin labs with extra long legs.
Same here...
Popper is 90lbs at almost 7 months. When he was a little shorter, everyone tried to guess what kind of dog he was...first it was dalmation (though he only has one spot on his side) then bird dog. Finally, people don't ask what kind he is anymore, but how big he'll get because his feet are so huge. I just say, "We'll see, won't we?" :)
daaaannnnnggggg!!
90lbs at 7 months???? lol.. how big IS your house??? :)

LOL Don!
That was great! I wish I could put that on a t-shirt! some that I have used:
Q: Whats your dog mixed with?
A: Whats your kid mixed with?
Q: Why is she so small?
A: She's a Texas Teacup Dane
What kind of dog??
Paul loves to tell people that Socrates/Boyd is a giant chihuahua.
What kind of Dog is that?
My favorite come back is "He is a Texas Chihuahua." Most people catch on pretty quick "Yeah Right!", but then there are always the one or two that make it worthwhile because they are just not sure...........

90 lbs at 7 months!!!!
WOW! And I also read Merlyn is about that same weight! Barnum and Bailey went to the vet for their last vaccines/boosters today and at 20 wks they are 53 lbs and 22". Miniature Danes! I have read the average for their age is 60-85 lbs and 24-30". So now my new snappy come back will be B & B are 'Dwarf Danes'! Although they are certianly big and Dane looking they could have some mix and their exact age is not 100% known.
the house..
Hahaha...not big enough some days! I just love him..he's my snuggle bunny! I'll have to get a new picture up, I guess. He can put his paws on my shoulders now and I'm 5'6".
love them
thanks don, some of those are really great.
when we first got cowgirl who was a merlequin with very strange hair on her back (some irish wolfhound), people always thought she was a big dalmation.
with some of the skinnier fosters, we've gotten people who ask if they're retired racers because they think they're greyhounds. yikes!
imagine trying to get 25 or so danes all running in the same direction for more than 20 secs.
ROFL
hahahaha... giant chihuahua's... that cracks me up!!! Think I'm going to have to make a run to Petco and take the dogs shopping just so someone will ask me that!!!
