You're right about the tissues...
Those photos of Princess are heartbreaking!! They remind me of Kong & Sugar when I found them. It's hard for me to even look at pictures I took of them then. I'm glad she's getting a second chance in a wonderful home. I hope the cancer has not spread and she lives a long and good life.

New Update!!
Got this email from the reporter today from the shelter director.
"I am sorry that you can't get through here at the shelter. The story of Princess has made news alover the country, which has flooded us with people and phone calls (300 people here at the shelter last Thursday) The Dane is at Clays Mill Veterinary clinic in Lexington where she is gaing about 2 1/2 pounds a day. She will have her leg amputated on Monday and the vet hopes for a full recovery."

She's getting closer
She's only 40 mins. from me now. But I don't think they are going to want more people around. I sent an email in. I thikn it sounds like they have it covered.

I am so happy to hear that she is now being looked after and loved. I am so sorry she ever had to go through that. It makes my physically ill to hear stories of such cruelty. How on earth human beings can be so cruel is beyond me.

Princess update!
Princess is "living" with the vet that has volunteered his services for all of her medical care! She spends the nights in Dr Blairs home and her days at his clinic. Also, pending the courts decision... DrBlair wants to adopt her! Princess has gained 15 lbs! They believe the cancer is contained to her leg only and plan to amputate soon.
Princess is being very well fed and loved and cared for. She's in a loving home, enjoying the attention.

Yay!!! Maybe I can stop by Dr. Blair's office on the 30th and see the poor gal. I emailed them too and told them this group was cheering for her recovery.

I'm so execited for Princess. I don't know why her story hit me so hard, but it really did. Thank you for the update.

That place is 160 miles from my house. I'm planning a trip right by there on my way to Knoxville, TN on April 30, a Wednesday. I asked what I can bring. If I get to see her, I'll take some pics. Man, poor thing. I'm betting she's probably hw positive. I asked if she's been tested. That's near Corbin, Ky where the coal mines are. It's a predominantly poor area. As in, our church goes to that area on mission trips to help feed the kids there.

Jana please let us know what you find out ... I hope she is doing better.... and I hope the SOB who did this is prosecuted.... I feel so bad for the owner in rehab thinking their dog is being cared for.....

Update!!
Hadn't gotten a response from the shelter and when I called the line didn't even ring, so I haven't talk to anyone from the shelter. But, I emailed the reporter that did the story and she replied "The great dane is recovering, and police have since arrested his owner."
More updates as I get them.
