My husband really wants to take the dogs to a lake near our home which has a beach area and is a favorite for dogs who like to swim. I'm nervous that Barnum and Bailey will sink and drown! They have both been in the 'tank' at their doggie daycare which is only 1-2 feet deep....Barnum chops at the water and attempts to swim (too shallow) Bailey just sits/lays down. They haven't been to daycare because it has been too hot so it's been over a month since either has had any water play experience. This lake gets deep quick and my hubby says not to worry because if he has to rescue them he will. But I'm wondering what experience you'll have had with your Danes in deep water? Will they have the instict to swim? I keep joking with him B&B are more couch and a/c types v.s the field and stream type...he says I'm not letting them be dogs...but I don't think they realise their dogs! Is this a good trip for them or a likely diaster?
