I finally had a spare minute to scan the discussion board and I am so impressed with the folks who are gettin' their Danes gussied up with new collars and tags for our biggest dog event of the year! I had never thought of DaneFest like this before, but now it seems a bit like Prom. Next thing I know, my dane Fran will be asking for a mani/pedi before the big day. ;-)
We're doing something new this year - we're serving fresh-cooked food! So plan on coming hungry. Many thanks to 'cashpuppy' and her son for donating the hamburgers (he owns a couple of restaurants and can get the really good stuff!). We'll also have hotdogs, VEGGIE BURGERS, chips and drinks. And we promise there's a safe place to eat where you can watch the dogs romp and play without fear of one of 'em nabbing your lunch!
(added note - I believe the cost for a hamburger/chips/drink combo will be an astonishingly low $3 - and the best part? Every bit of your 'lunch money' goes directly to GDRNT vet bills...now that's what I call guilt-free eating!)

Pre-register!
If you want to feel like a rock star and "get right in" then you need to pre-register! If everyone waits to do it on-site, then you may have to wait in a long line and miss out on all the fun! See the front page and get that registration done! :-)

Danefest Newbie question
Speaking of pre-registering, this will be my 1st year to attend Danefest so please humor me and my ignorance of the event policies. I mailed my pre-registration form and check in so what will we need to do when we get there? Do I need to bring shot records just in case or will we get some kinda confirmation that we can attend?

Good question!
You don't need to bring any paperwork with you if you've already mailed it in. We don't give people a 'confirmation' that they can attend - but we will call a person if there are any problems or if we have any questions about the information on their form.
When you get to the event, there will be a check-in table with two sections - one for people who have pre-registered and another section for everyone else (the section with little or no line is where you'll want to be). You'll simply give the check-in volunteer your name, they'll find you on their list, and off you go for some romping and playing.
The people who don't pre-register will be in the longer line and will have to bring their records and wait for us to make sure the dog is all squared away before they can start romping and playing.
It sounds like a pain, but it's an important step in making sure the dogs that come to this event are healthy and have someone taking proper care of them.

Fran's spa days
Yeah, you're right Kim, Fran believes weekly massages were written into her GDRNT adoption contract. ;-) Lately, she's been taking care of the manicures herself - by digging giant holes in the slimy clay that makes up my backyard. She claims the muddy clay improves the condition of nails and helps keep them short, but I'm calling bs on that...she's just looking for any excuse to dig.
So Sad and Disappointed
I am so sad and VERY disappointed that Scooby and I won't be attending DaneFest this year. My cousins came with me last year and we had a blast. I will be thinking about each of you and what a wonderful time you will be having.... Be sure to have plenty of pics on hand so at least I can see what fun everyone had... Eat a hot dog for Scooby and me...
