DALLAS – Springtime officially kicks off with Dallas’ most colorful canine event, the Turtle Creek
Association’s Easter in the Park, featuring the hilarious “Pooch Parade and Costume Contest.
Celebrating its 24th anniversary this
year, Easter in the Park is slated for Sunday, April 12,2009, from 12:45 p.m. – 5 p.m. (with registration
for the “Pooch Parade” beginning at 11 a.m.) at Lee Park, located at Turtle Creek Boulevard and Lemmon
Avenue.
The beloved family-oriented celebration, which typically attracts 10,000 – 12,000 attendees, is
Dallas’ largest annual outdoor event and is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring
blankets and picnic lunches or may dine on a wide variety of “State-Fair-type” foods, such as corn dogs
and funnel cakes.
I just have to put in my 2 cents about this event ,and I couldnt figure out how to respond to the original post. We try to go every year because it is so fun, the people watching and dog watching is great! There are loads of vendors, you can bring a picnic, and just kick back and watch or be a part of the parade. I dress up Caoihme every year for this one , and let me tell you people get very creative. Below is a standard poodle that I groomed specifically to be entered into this parade. She was such a good girl for all of it, it took two sessions- one for the color and one for the cut.
