Cell Phone Recycling

When mailing in cell phones with the label available through the GRC website, do I need to annotate that the proceeds go to GRDNT? The address is in Florida? How do they know where the money goes? Is it on the label?

Thanks!

Thanks so so so much Claudia!

Be careful when cutting the label out on the dotted lines, because just within the dotted line is a note that the box is for Great Dane Rescue of North Texas (you'll see it on the upper left-hand side when you print the label). That little note tells them where the money goes.

Yep, the recycling company is in Florida.

I was hyper-paranoid the first three or four times I sent boxes in - I logged every phone (which was no easy task because Nina had gotten 200 phones when her company upgraded!), I noted the date/time/location of the mailing and then I called and pestered their office until I knew the boxes got there safely.

They send itemized invoices with the make, model and condition of EACH phone, along with the amount of money each phone received. After comparing my notes to theirs on hundreds of phones I started to trust 'em. Everything always matched. I don't log every phone anymore, but I do spot checks. They also call me if they don't receive a shipment from me every couple of months - just to make sure they haven't missed something from us. I've been very impressed with their operation.

Let me know how many phones you send in and I'll add that number to our 150 phone goal. I can ask them to call me when they receive your box, if you want...just let me know when you ship it.

Thanks again! jamie

I only have one to send in.

I only have one to send in. Unfortunately, my husband just tossed his last week before I paid attention. Was a Blackberry too. But I did post the link on a website I've been on for years and one gal said she has 4 to send in. Also, I put a link to the site in my email signature line, so everyone I email will read about it and hopefully do the same. I told my husband to ask people at his work to give him their used phones in the future for donation.

Yes, work is a great place to "recruit" phones

I am in charge of my department's homepage so I keep a permament post on it about giving me their un-used cell phones. Probably not "official" work business, but I don't care and no one dares to question or they will get stuck doing the work. Anyway, I have probably gotten about 25 phones this way. Gave Susan 6 more a few weeks ago.
