Well, for those of you who don't know Sampson's history, he was the blind fawn puppy that my husband and I adopted from GDRNT about a little over a year ago. He came to us blind, but then he started having a world of other problems. He couldn't walk properly (we thought he had wobblers) and most of all, lately, he has started having severe seizures (we thought he had epillepsy). All of his symptoms started getting worse, and we knew there had to be something linking all of his problems. So we took him to College Station (for the second time) and had an MRI and a spinal tap done. We just got the results of the MRI tonight and it turns out the Sampson was born with a disease called hydrocephalus. Basically, it is a disorder where he has an overproduction of fluid in his brain. Basically all of this fluid has been building up and putting pressure on his brain and the base of his spinal cord at his neck, thereby causing blindness, uneasiness when walking, and seizures. Now for the good news...it is treatable by medication. We will put him on these special steroids that will supress the production of the fluid, thereby releasing the pressure on his brain. It will stop his seizures, and he will even gain most of his sight back!!! They say once he can see better, his mobility will improve also! I feel like finally a miracle has happened for Sampson. We have been looking for answers for so long, and we finally got one. Maybe now he will be able to give Athena a run for her money ; ) . I will keep eveyone updated on his progress, and thank you to everyone who has worried about and taken care of this wonderful guy!
