so, 3 mos ago I sold my house in Plano and moved down to Dallas. Tuesday I got home from work to discover my new (old) house had been burglarized. Shammy seemed VERY happy to see me and I was very relieved to see they didn't let him out loose or kill him. The cop that came said in 15 years on the force he had never seen a house burglarized with a big dog living there. He said thieves just don't want to mess with big dogs. I have a feeling that Shammy was napping and they made threatening gestures and he just ducked and got out of their way. There was a large butcher knife from my kitchen dropped, so at some point they pulled that out. I have an alarm instaled now (yes, it IS possible with Danes, just have to be creative about placement of motion sensory) and all the locks are changed. If Bubba Chad had still been alive, no doubt my house wouldn't have been touched. He barked at ANYTHING even remotely close to the house and went balistic when someone came to the door. Shammy...not so much. Anyway, just thankful Shammy wasn't hurt....valuables can be replaced but dogs can't.
