RIP Bambi 2006-2009 - the good years

My vet aged her at around 10, but the first 7 years dont count since they are filled with neglect and abuse.
Bambi was the most wonderful dog we have ever owned which says a lot if you have ever visisted our very full house. We fell in love with immediately, complete and utter foster failure! She was loved, spoiled, doted on and did I say spoiled from the moment she arrived. In return, all she did was love. We were talking last night after putting her down about how not once did we ever have to correct or scold her for anything over the past three years. She was literally perfect... if only her body was. About a month ago she was suddenly unable to use her right rear leg. Although her knee was fine, her hip had degenerated. Over the past few weeks she never regained useage and lost mobility as well as 10lbs. She was on Duremax(sp), 6 Tramadol and 3 Tyelnol 3 with Codeine a day and still would not use that leg. She was so weak in the rear anyway, it became just too difficult to move about. Last night we talked and our vet thought there might be a fracture with the sudden onset and extreme pain she was in, even to the touch. There was nothing left to do but relieve her pain. My heart is so broken. She was my big girl. My husband is refusing to wash his coat that he was wearing that is covered with her hair.

Anyway, Bambi will be missed and loved always. Thank you to Dane Rescue for the opportunity to have her such a wonderful lady be part of our life. We were so lucky to have her and would hope she felt the same way. I truly believe she knew how much she was loved.
