Our First Night With Drake

Things we have learned in less than 24 hours.....

Drakes leg from Knee to Ankle is the as long as my forearm. His toes are as long as my middle finger. I know, Old Hat, for you all but for us newbies we are still having those moments.

I can look down and his face is just inches away.

He gets lots of love just by walking by... because well his body is just right there to reach out and love.

He knows what a human bed is and is a bit confused about why he can't sleep in our small full size bed. (The humans barely fit) So after some confusion, he accepted his new doggy bed.

Unless the bedtime turns are just right, one must keep turning until they are. We have seen as many as 8 turns last night.

You really need to pay attention to where he is when you tell him to sit. Or else you will find 141 lb of doggy in your lap. (The camera hasn't been handy yet when he's done this).

Shut the bathroom door. There is a huge difference between a 50lb midsize dog coming in to say hi, and 141lb XL dog coming in to stay until your leave.

Drake likes to place his head upside down (nose resting on sofa) between your knees so you rub just the right spot.

When Drake is ready for something (feeding, potty), he's not getting out of your face until you get it.

Watching Drake stare down our blue heeler was priceless. She is currently the submissive one... I don't think that will last but it is amusing at the same time. He is two feet away. She's all the way across the room. The look she's giving me, reminds me to give her more love.... time to go love the first fur baby.
