As most of you know, Geoff and I managed to adopt the two most difficult Danes in the history of GDRNT. Eddie is now on doggy prozac to help some "I am an old fart of a man" issues. We are going to be trying several things with him. Including enlisting the engineering brains of Dennis Van Vleet!!! :)
Then there is my sweet Angie girl. OHHH if you have met her, it is hard not to fall in love with her. She is perfect. I LOVE this dog. Want to clone her, LOVE this dog. If you have been around long enough, we adopted two years ago and he has been positive for Demodex every since. She has chronic mange. We have massive flare ups and then just regular maintenance. We have spent obscene amount of money on her, tick panels, lymp node, aspirations, medicines, diets, ohh the antibiotics ALONE, steriod injections etc. Well I thought this is what was going on and Dr B confirmed it this week. Angie is allergic to demodex. So now my dog, whom I love, adore. would do anything for, is allergic to herself.
Good gravy. So we are trying this new thing on the market called Promeris. It is flea and tick preventative that is off label use for demodex. I am thinking that she is getting immune to ivermectin now which I assumed would eventually happen. She is on ivermetic daily and now we are trying this Promeris stuff to see if it will work.
My poor girl.....
