I will miss you Sampson!

Well, yesterday Jason and I had the worst day of our lives. We had to put Sampson down yesterday. He had so many problems (blindness, hydrocephalus, wobblers, kidney problems...) we knew it would come someday, we just weren't ready for it to be yesterday. We found him Monday evening basically comatose in the back yard. We carried him to the car (150 pounds of dead weight) and rushed him to the emergency clinic. He had multiple seizures that day, and it looked like the seizures were just finally getting the better of him despite the 5 medications he was on. Tuesday morning we transferred him to Gulf Coast Animal Clinic, and that is where we got the bad news that he was having internal bleeding and that his organs were beginning to fail. They think that one of his seizures may have caused an aneurism. That is when we had to decide to let him go. They brought him into the room, and gave him the shot. It was the most heart wrenching feeling I have ever had. Poor Sampson only had a short 2 years with us, and every day was a battle. He was a trooper and made it through all the medications and multiple trips to college station to see the neurologist. Now he is finally disease free, and not in pain anymore. I loved him so much, and I don't think a day will go by where we won't miss him.
