YAY!!! Miss all the pictures!!

I agree Paul....it's the same, only a little bit different. We're all still here and checking in daily. It'll take some time to get the depth on this site that the old site had but the more everyone posts...the better it gets!!

I LOVELOVELOVE seeing all your furkids!! Charlie looks like he's having a great time with his new rope toy. Love the picture of Phyllis with her kitchen helpers:) Hope you're staying warm...the fire looks nice and cozy!!

Love it!

You really can tell all their personalities by the pictures! Poggy asleep...shocker! We had a GDRNT member meeting today and there were 4 danes there...seemed like more though! I definitely need to make a roadtrip sometime to visit the herd of 9! :-)
Thanks for the updates!

Sara (Bubba Chad's and Shammy's mom)

LOVE THOSE PICS

Paul and Phyllis everybody looks fabulous. You have a way of capturing each of their personalities. I can't thank you enough for always posting such wonderful pictures. By the way I need to email you about a print job that I am thinking about doing...will try and email you later this evening...Judy, Scooby, and Daphne

4? 5? 6?..........7?...8? 9 danes and you're there

Its hard to explain 9 Danes all at once. It can be a bit overwhelming.....even to a Dane owner.
The experience of around 1,400 lbs of Dane "checking you out" can be quite the experience. LOL

All we can say is.........ITS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love

I love love these updates. Even when there is alot going on, to see the updates on the LA Herd it makes me giggle! You do get each personality and expression perfect! I am glad to see Charlie so happy and enjoying his toys like a normal dog... that is so amazing!!

There aren't enough words for Molly...

I miss that girl soooooooo much, but I can't imagine a better place for her than in Paul and Phyllis' loving arms. Giving up a foster that you adore is so hard, but knowing that it has gone to an amazing home makes it all better.

Now, for someone who doesn't always get a lot of attention...Miss Abby! How is she doing? I just remember what a poor, scared girl she was the first time I met her. I have no clue what she lived through in her previous life - but I have a feeling she was tormented at the hands of children for a very long time before she was turned into the animal shelter. How's she doing with the rest of the herd? Has she bonded with one person in particular? Does she have any favorite playing buddies?

Oh good grief, Charlie is too cute for words. I'm really in big, big trouble. I have all these dogs I want to kidnap and my car is only so big. Now I need to look into renting an 18 wheeler for my trip to Mexico. Shoot! There I go, thinking outloud again.... ;-)

Abby.......aka Ava

Well, Abby........she was a totally dysfunctional baby when we got her. She was terrified of her own shadow and would run away if you even looked at her. It was a very sad time for us. It took a few years, but she has finally come out of her shell a bit......not fully, but infinitely better. I would say she has established her position in the herd and they are all now comfortable with it. She moves with the herd......not cowering off the the side anymore. She is part of the herd. She has become quite a bit more assertive in her "old age" LOL. I'm now thrown out of bed in the A.M.s........not because they all want up.......but because its Abby who wakes everyone up so she can have her due time in bed like the others......and yes.....get next to Phyllis.............thrown out of bed by a dog ........what is this world coming to?
For those of you who don't know us or the herd.....we just want to make our babies (danes) lives right for all that they have endured at the hands of their former people....and I used the term people loosly...and I can't print here what I really want to say about people who abuse any living creature.

So.....yes, we try our best to make up for all their not so good times and spoil them while there are with us. We, Phyllis and I, have discovered that we are content just being with our babies....rather than travel or anything like that. Come to think of it.....the only place we've been since 2000 is to Dallas to get another Dane....and that is just for about an hour stop to do the paperwork and head back home. Of course ....no one can board 9 Danes.......so that helps in the decision a bit LOL.

We do miss our GDRNT friends that we've met over the years......and would someday like to meet the ones we've chatted with on the website. Someday, we will.

Oh yes, I better mention the cats......our two rescued cats.......One is diabetic and needs shots twice a day........so........another reason to stay home. We like home.....when we get home from shopping.......our babies run out to greet us EVERY time like we're long lost family that they haven't seen for years......its the best.

Ooops! I digressed a bit........LOL. Senility is a sneaky thing LOL.

Abby is wonderful........lost 19 lbs on slentrol so far.......going for about 25lbs.
I guess the bottom line is that she is happy and well. And for us, thats what its all about.

Oh yes, and Jamie......the more I use the board......the better I like it............I think its going to be a lot better than the old format.

Texas Herd

I too love hearing updates and seeing pictures of the LA herd. I personally think ya'll have the BEST life with all your furbabies. One of these days I'm want to be able to afford to have a "Texas herd". Oh, what I would give to be able to have a herd of danes, hmmmm would be heaven. I keep wishing I'll win the lottery and buy me some land in the country with a huge house custom made for danes. Can you tell I'm jealous....lol

I do have one question, what size bed do you have? I've seen pictures of all or most of the babies in the bed and it looks huge.
I want one that big, then I might have enough room to sleep...lol

Jana, Addie & Argos

Bed

We had to get a king and two twins so we could accommodate all the babies that wanted
to sleep with us. The headboard is 10'. LOL

sooooooo my dream!!!

That is 100% MY DREAM too Jana!! I told hubby that if we ever came into some $$ we had to buy land, I would open a HUGE barn style (outside view) kennel for my home business and give GDRNT friends and family FREE boarding whenever they needed a vacation. It would have to include a HUGE living area in the barn with several sectional sofas to fit all the visiting dane guests. I'm thinking we need to play the lottery weekly!!! I always forget!

10' !!!!!!! WOW!

That would definately require us to move for sure! We have tiny bedrooms and our king bed barely fits in this room now. Elgin has to sleep at our feet, either on my side or hubby's....so one of us is usually curled into a ball to make room for scruffy! He won't sleep in the middle...ever. Moose use to stretch across the entire bed (we were not in it, of course) and his legs would be off both sides. Such a leggy boy....I miss him!

Bed

Are they connected? If so, how?

Jana, Addie & Argos

Bed

I built a raised platform for the king and twin so they are resting on the platform, but not tied together. Socrates bed is at the foot of the king and about 8" lower. He loves the pillow top.....he becomes ONE WITH THE BED.....you can hear him sigh as he settles down. LOL.
