So Princess Clara has settled into her new home quite well over the last
couple of weeks. She spent all of TWO nights in her crate and now spends
her nights sleeping in the master bed along side (or more accurately - on
top of) her mom, dad and sister Dot! Clara and Dot are awesome together
but some days Dot has a hard time keeping up with the "puppy" in Clara. If
anyone has a "Clara-size" puppy that wants to have a play date, please let
us know.
So far the count of lost items is minimal - Clara has managed to eat two
rugs, the carpet off the stairs, a stuffed flamingo, her $45 dog bed that
lives in the bottom of her crate, a stuffed red weenie dog (clearly she has
no respect for small dogs-ha), a pair of Ashton's flip-flops and a couple
of Clayton's nurf balls. YES, all of this happened while we were at home
with her - LOL. It is a fear of losing the furniture that causes Princess
Clara to have to stay in a crate when we are not at home. But lucky for
her, someone is almost always at home.
Clara has gotten over her separation anxiety (yea); however, she has not
gotten over the excitement of mom coming through the door, even if mom was
only gone for a few seconds to take the trash out or check the mail. We
must get more practice with that "no jump" policy.
Clara absolutely loves taking her humans for their daily walks, her new
t-shirt that her grandmother found for her, all of Dots hand me down toys
(that she hasn't already eaten) and having her butt scratched with Mommy's
fingernails. She totally loves the kids (or baby humans as she calls
them), especially when they are using her as a pillow. She has gotten over
her fear of strangers and loves all visitors; human and furry! But most of
all Clara LOVES her hamsters, Addison & Bailey. Clara will stand and watch
them forever. We just hope that she isn't trying to figure out "which
sauce".
Our family would not be the same without our new baby. We are so
grateful for everyone at GDRNT who helped make this possible! This was an
absolutely perfect match for us and for the Princess.
P.S. PUH-LEASE don't tell Clara that she is spoiled!! It's a
secret........
