Toby

Okay so here is my new foster Toby!! I am in LOVE with him. =) I can not figure out for the life of me why he was turned into the animal shelter. He is perfect in every way. I will get some better pics of him later as my camera is down again but here are a few I took of him last week. These pictures really don't do him justice at all. He has the shiniest black coat and is such a pretty boy. I was able to get one of him standing up finally but only because he was looking at something out the door. He's hard to get pictures of since he is usually glued to my side.

I'm trying to get some weight on him. Once he fills out he's going to be sooooo handsome (not that he isn't already). =)

edited to add: Whoops I forgot to mention that this was before he could get neutered as I got him during the holidays and the vets office wasn't able to get to him for a few days since they were closed but he is now neutered.

Toby

Toby McLovin. that's actually pretty hilarious. i would definitely name him that.

Toby

Mary,
I am sooo happy that you finally found your forever dog....and am still amazed that you didn't keep Ninja for yourself. : ) Carter just LOVES his baby girl so thanks so much for not keeping her...i think. Just kidding! Seriously, you really deserve to have a great dog that is yours. I hope that you'll continue fostering. After all, can anyone live in a house with less than 2 danes at a time? : ) Keep us updated on Toby's progress. Oh, and the next time Carter does a transport, he said that he is definitely naming the dog McLovin if it's a boy. lol.

fostering...

Oh of course I will still foster!!! I love it...well, most of the time. ;-) Sometimes you get one that really gets on your nerves but most are great!! Then there is the hard part....letting them go.

Lol...I totally believe that Carter would do that too!! =) Sometimes I will call Toby, "McLovin" just joking around with him. I don't think Toby cares what I call him as long as I say it in a sweet voice to him. He's such a mamma's boy.

Toby

Toby reminds me of a skinny version of Jack. Same colour and same markings... He is absolutely beautiful! And I can only imagine how much more handsome he will be when he puts on his weight. How do people just let go of such a perfect dog? How much did he weigh when he first came in?

Cristina
Jack & Sydney's mum

If I remember correctly I

If I remember correctly I believe he weighed in at 110 when I first picked him up and as of yesterday he weighed 120. I have had him for two and a half weeks. He still has a lot of weight to gain but he's looking better. His ribs don't stick out quite as bad, so that's an improvement but his hip bones still stick out. When he gets filled out he's going to look really good.

Smells like.....hmmmm

Foster failure in the air......

Jana, Addie & Argos

hmmmm....

Jana, I think you might be on to something.... ;-)

Hmm... This is soo cool

Mary, If you fail with Toby you totally deserve to have a good dane of your own, for everything you have done for so many other fosters! It still breaks my heart to think about you and big kenny....

I am excited ... for you and toby!!

Thanks...

I love this guy. Wish him luck though....he goes in for surgery in the morning on his leg.

ABSOLUTELY!!

many prayers sent your way for Toby!! He's precious...I'm so happy he found YOU! What a wonderful forever home story. He will be fine tomorrow...don't you worry, everyone will be praying for him. Do you think you will keep his name? I really like it.....but know that you will have a spectacular new name if you choose to change it. Please keep us posted on how his surgery goes tomorrow.

Thank you Stacey

Well I just found out that since he's been sneezing some this week and was exposed to a dog that had an upper respiratory infection they are wanting to post pone his surgery since it weakens their immune system to be put under for the surgery. So he will get on some antibiotics and he will have surgery either Friday or next week.

Oh and I picked him up from the animal shelter and named him myself so I will keep it as Toby. ;-) I just couldn't think of anything else that fit him. My husband wanted me to name him McLovin but I wasn't going for that one so we settled on that being his middle name. =) I never know what to name dogs!!!

Big Kenny??

what happened? I'm so clueless... Is Big Kenny OK? Didn't he get returned and then re-adopted again? I hope he's OK!! He was gorgeous!!!

Big Kenny

Oh no, Stacey Big Kenny is fine. He's a foster I had a while back and he's in a wonderful home right now. I just should of adopted him when I had the chance is all and then he got on a match list and he got chosen. He's really happy in his new home. He's such a good boy and deserved that so much (not that they all don't).

What a relief!

Pheeeew!! Thank you for that update on Big Kenny....I thought something terrible had happened to him. He is gorgeous...I remember his pictures clearly....stunning eyes! I think I remember Tracy posting about "the one that got away"....one of her fav fosters....so I guess Big Kenny may always have that special spot in your heart as well. Glad to know that he has a wonderful forever home though.....that helps to know that he's loved and cared for, as he would have been in your home. We always want the best for these special guys/gals.

Great.

Thanks, Mary - now my plan is foiled. It's so much easier to "borrow" a foster than it is to steal a personal dane. (big wink)

Mary, I think Jamie just

Mary, I think Jamie just volunteered for "pet sitting" for you, cause you know your going to be a foster failure...:) I'm so glad you finally found your velcro baby.

Jana, Addie & Argos

YIPPEE!!!

You SOOOOO deserve to keep this sweetie after all the fostering you have done. We all knew you'd come across your "perfect" velcro furbaby one day. He does remind me of my Moose when we adopted him last January...99lbs tall and skinny. I hope you do ... he will be in the perfect forever home if you do:)

Showing my cards...

Okay, so normally I try to skirt around the issue when I love someone's dog so much I want to keep it. I'll make jokes about moving to Mexico and changing the dog's name, but I can't even joke about Toby. I've told Mary that I will come to her house and steal her foster one day. I'm sorry, Mary, I know you love him...but oh. my. goodness. he is one awesome dog. I want him. I'm jealous. When I left your house the other day, I came home, walked in the door and said to Fran "Why can't you be more like Toby?!?!". She flipped her ears at me and walked away. Big sigh.

I can't pinpoint it - he has the calmness of a mature dog, but he still acts goofy. It's a weird, wonderful combination.

Honestly, I'm glad he's with you, Mary...you do soooooo much for this group and have had to work extra hard with some of your fosters lately. You deserve an extra-cool foster like Toby. Just make sure your alarm is set at night. I have a black ski cap and I know how to use it. ;-)

jamie

gee so how come...

nobody ever talks about stealing my man eating, posum chewing, couch surfin, slobbering, counter surfing, toilet drinking, snotty miss Mocha? ( hheeeehheee my plan worked!)

she actually drank my avenna oatmeal bath.... blech

nobody wants to steal lucy either!

and i don't ever see anybody saying they want my toilet paper eatin', glass breakin', counter surfin', money pit of a dog...lucy! what's up with that?
laura

Ditto!

I think I'm in love too:) He's adorable. I want to hear more about him....age, anything you can share.

Stacey
~in memory of Moose~

They estimated his age to be

They estimated his age to be about two and he is my shadow. He follows me everywhere....which I absolutely love! When I leave the house my husband says that he stays at the front door whining and looking out the front door the whole time. His world revolves around me. =) He is great with my two kids, already housetrained, loves everybody, doesn't chew on anything he's not supposed to, doesn't scratch up the door when he wants in, he just politely stares in the back door and whines a little. He doesn't counter surf......well you guys see where I'm going with this. He's absolutely PERFECT!!! I think I'm a little biased at this point though. Oh and he is the best cuddler in the whole world!! Jamie is right, he is so calm and good but then he has that little hint of goofiness still left in him. I LOVE this dog!!!!!

Okay guys I'm done talking about him now. =)

He sounds great!

So, most of you may not know that I "stole" Chad from another foster. Ben and Ellen needed someone to watch their foster over Christmas 4 years ago and since I wasn't going anywhere and was foster-free at the time, I volunteered to keep him for the 5 days. Well, he was perfect too. Sweet, loving, funny, housebroken, etc.
They got back in town and I said, "Sorry, I am adopting him!"....and I did. Not sure if they have ever forgiven me. Sometimes a special one comes around and you just can't help but steal them. :-) Jamie still swears she is going to take him from me, so I have her on speed dial if I get home and he isn't there!

Sara (Bubba Chad's and Shammy's mom)

911 would probably be better.

Um, hate to tell you this, Sara, but by the time Chad and I make it to Mexico, my phone won't have a signal so no need to call me....

jamie

How sweet!

AWW Toby stole my heart too. I can see why you are in love.... I am so glad he is with you!

Awww...he has such a sweet

Awww...he has such a sweet face. Would love to see updated pics of him once he puts on some weight. Looks like he is right at home!
