Well, it's official - i'm a "foster failure - and couldn't be happier ;-) This precious girl just fit into the routine and flow of the house so much more quickly than any dog who ever owned me. She seems to like it here, and is looking good. She's up to 145 lbs now; just about right for such a big girl! I joined GDRNT as a foster as i didn't feel ready for another "forever" Dane yet after losing my beloved Cashpuppy. When i agreed to foster Garbo, and not knowing what to expect with a deaf, visually impaired dog, i called my obedience trainer to ask if he was ready to take on a dog with her special problems. He agreed and i was to call him back after she'd been here for a couple of weeks; long enough for me to see what behavior problems she might need a little work on. I've never called him back because there just weren't any problems! (I really need to call him to say why i never called back!)
This is such a great group and i feel so fortunate to be a part of it. Everyone i've met is soooo nice and helpful, and as soon as i figure out how to squish the furniture together enough to fit in another crate or cage, i'd like to foster again......and i do mean *foster* the next time - hahaa! Who knew when joining the group that this would happen? i surely didn't but turned out to be a red letter day for me.....and for Garbo too, i think. She spends so much time on the bed, i'm afraid she's going to be assimilated permanently into the bedcovers. Look closely - she's in there somewhere - lol. Many thanks to everyone who helped this beautiful spirit find a 'forever' home, although i'm definitely the more fortunate one!

Congratulations
Congratulations! She obviously came into your life for a reason. She looks so content, what a happy ending.
I'd be jealous
if I weren't so happy for both of you. Please give Garbo a kiss from her transporter. She is such a love!
congrats
to you and to garbo. we could tell at the starbucks m&g that you would never give her up. thanks for being brave enough to start fostering with a deaf dog. seems like you two were destined for each other. this is what we all love to see. a happy ending for each rescued pup.
hope she has a long and happy life in your home.

It is always so heartwarming to hear stories from forever homes telling their connection story to their dane. Being a foster failure is just testament to how fabulous Danes are at making themselves at home.....safe, comfy & cozy....so much so that you don't want them to leave!! Garbo...Gigi...is one lucky girl!! It was such a joy to meet you at Starbucks on during our M&G....you worked so hard raising money & selling raffle tickets. I'm excited to see you both again at Danefest. Best Wishes!!
