Amy

Current update on Amy- Doing good so far. She had a great holiday. Amy is becoming more social everyday. She greets at the door with a bark. Stays out of the crate and still travels between rooms. Will sit for treats. Understands the "wait" command for food and snacks. Something new this week, Amy has a tickle spot. Rub underneath her chest and she does the rapid leg scratching thing. Most important, Amy is very aware of her name, will not always come, but will acknowledge. Still working on the positive reinforcement has Cassie suggested. Cassie has seen Amy twice, seen improvement. Trying to get Amy to adjust to a free standing elevated feeder. Right now her food is elevated on a bowl hanger in the crate. Amy does have a little food agression with Tugg. Zeus and Rowdy can climb in the crate and eat out of the same bowl with her, no big deal. Tugg gets in eye shot and she shows her attitude. Why, no clue. Amy has also started to "jockey" for sleep positions on the dog beds. She will wiggle her way into the other dogs until they move. She has also been known to sit on Zeus to make him move. On walks she has started to pull ahead of you vs walking way behind you. Still little skittish of noises and sudden movements, she'll bolt. Amy is definitely more comfortable with hands near her, you can rub all over her face and touch the head now without her ducking. We have been dog sitting Tugg's sister Hera. Hera has been here before with Amy, was not a problem. Now we think Amy might be a little jealous of another female in her house. You call Hera, start petting on her and Amy is right there nudging Hera away from you. I tried to post current pics, not sure they attached. Still confused on how to post pictures. Will try to update with pictures, she has really changed.

This is GREAT

You have been a wonderful foster to her! Sounds like she is REALLY making progress. Funny, Chad will back up and sit on Shammy too when he wants him off "his" spot on the couch. Passive agressive, eh?
I just figured out how to post pics today...much easier I think, let me know if you need help!

You guys rock!

"Seen improvement" is a massive overstatement. That dog is a whole world better with what you guys have done!
I am still kicking myself for not taking a video of her the first time I saw her so that you'd have something to compare it to in order to show the GARGANTUAN difference in her behavior. You guys have worked so hard and done an AWESOME job with her. :)

I am so proud of you!

Cassie RAVED about your work the other night, Stacie. RAVED. I had Amy in my house...I know what she was like. I can't imagine the dog you and Cassie have described.

This, this is what makes rescue so worth it.

100 photos of Amy

Sara
Can we connect for photo posting 101? I have so many great photos of Amy. Everytime we try, will not post.

Hope everyone saw the great article Jamie wrote on the home page about Amy. Thanks Jamie great job!!!

She is doing great. We went to Petsmart last Saturday to weigh and get cookies. Amy hopped right up on the scales and waited patiently. She is 110 lbs. After the weigh in stopped by the Starbucks M/G for a few minutes to add to the donation jar. She was a little shaky and anxious, I think the traffic was a bit much. Amy has discovered new dog friends on our walks. Our neighbor has 2 pappilon puppies, she went "hog wild". Sniffed and rolled these two little fellows like they were her pups. Amy was letting the neighbor coo and fuss all over her, starting that demanding hand nudge to be petted. The neighborhood kids pet on her--all are very drawn to her "belbet" ears, so soft and floppy. Again apologize for no pics.

Super

I just love hearing the update on her. Well, as far as the photo posting, you have to start a new thread, but then I just click the Browse button, give the location of my photos (usually on my c:drive) and poof, it works. I know they have to be .jpegs and a certain size. You can try e-mailing a few to me and see if I can get them posted. Sorry about that! I am definitely not a "techie", but will try!

Amy

Hey guys and gals. I'm interested in possibly adopting Amy. I'm in the process of looking for a place that is animal friendly since I've always wanted a dog (a big dog lol!). I've been checking out local rescues on great pyrs and great danes and all sorts of breeds, but when I saw Amy she absolutely stole my heart.

I would love to speak with her foster mom/dad about whether she is still available as well as getting more info and pictures on her and maybe setting up a date to check her out soon? Also I'm sure you'll want to know about me if I adopt her! :-)

I would also like to know what her adoption fee is and get a copy of the adoption contract and application.

My email address is saddlepotato06 [at] yahoo [dot] com. I check it everyday. I can't wait to hear from you!

Paige, I am going to copy a link to our adoption application. When you get that filled out, a volunteer can contact you about our program and specific dogs you have questions about!! Thanks for your interest in adopting a Great Dane!!! http://old.danerescue.net/forms/gdrntapp.asp

Amy is moving

Moving to the ADOPTED DANE UPDATE PAGE!!!!!!!!!! Ms. Amy Anne Princess (new name) has been adopted. A wonderful man adopted her for his wife's birthday. I am very happy that Mr. Wonderful belongs to me!!! Amy is a fabulous gift. This adoption was meant to be for all involved. Thanks to everybody that was instrumental in making this a great surprise. The only negative is we are not be able to foster due to the quantity of dogs we have now. We will continue to volunteer in other areas for GDRNT.

Will send a new update on the adopted section. Already have lots of news regarding Amy.

So awesome. I am sure she has settled down in her queen like way now!!! Congrats to both of you. Thank you for taking on such a hard challenge and NOT giving up on her. She was meant to be with you!!
