I wanted to post a picture of her, so had to start a new post. Anyway, the prayers and support are working. She is improving at Children's Hospital and they are going to do heart surgery on Monday and close the holes with "tape". This is a temporary "fix" until she gets bigger and stronger and in 3-6 mos. they will do the full blown surgery. Both surgeries require cutting open her tiny chest, so turn those prayers up a notch on Monday. If all goes well though, she can go home a week or so after that! Thanks to everyone for your continued support. My cousin and his wife are dog lovers too (own 3 labs) and appreciated it when I told them I had a bunch of Dane lovers down south praying for them!

I'm so glad for little Emma and her family! Love and prayer...what a combo!
Would you believe?
So glad the shunt is working for her! Would you believe I know the man who invented it?!
His name was Newkirk and lived in the mountains outside of Denver in Evergreen. He developed it to save his own daughter! His wife carol had a tiny assembly plant in Evergreen where they put these shunts together and distributed them. Later Carol became a design client of mine and I was honored to design a new facility for her...small wonderful world!
That is wild!
You can see it on the left side of her head. This one should last her about 3 years they think. She might qualify for a surgery at that time where she will no longer need a shunt. I guess it depends on the kind of hydrocephelius (sp?) she has.
ANyway, a great invention in my book!
Emma is still struggling...she hasn't bounced back from the surgery quite like they wanted. She is hanging in there though.
