Dallas passes animal ordinance

"The Dallas City Council passed the animal ordinance on Wednesday designed at reducing the number of stray animals in the city.
The new ordinance has three main points that take effect at different times.

The first is a "pay or spay" requirement: if an animal is not spayed or neutered, an owner must pay $70 for a breeders' license plus $30 for registration, and also take an education class for each animal the owner intends to breed. This requirement takes effect in 120 days.

The second restriction is against tethering: no owner will be allowed to tie up a dog in a yard starting 90 days from today.

The third new part of the ordinance limits owners to no more that six animals in a single-family home under half an acre. This restriction starts 90 days from today."

Reportedly, many breeders showed up in City Hall, including people from as far away as San Antonio and Houston and including someone from the national rifle association. Glad it was all in vain.

We won this battle, we need to brace ourselves for the big dump. I am interested to see how many people will choose to dump their animals over fixing them or paying $70.
