My JR Terrier (who is 16 now) came to us from a rescue in Florida eleven years ago with number and letters tattooed across her lower tummy by her legs. I was told at the time by the rescue that Miss Charlie will always be tracked by those numbers but I didn't think to ask by who is she tracked? I contacted the rescue before we moved to Texas but it was all new people and nobody knew anything about tattoos. She also had been micro-chipped years ago because the vet said he didn't know what the tattoo meant and likely nobody else would either. I think it's odd it was done in the first place not to mention she has long wiry hair and you'd have to know they were there to see them. I'd love to know!!! I've seen a dog with a ear tattoo but not across the stomach like Miss charlie. She did get surrendered to a shelter more than once prior to going to the rescue for aggression and I wonder if the markings link to her 'rap sheet' or if this is what was done prior to micro-chipping? Anyone know?
