Siena's taming!

Well, everything is really going great with Siena's taming!!! We've done everything that Kathy, from Kathy's Kitties, the feral cat T/N/R and adoption organization here in Killleen is advising us to do. Kathy spayed Siena two years ago and only two weeks ago today we brought her inside the house! She's in a very fancy cat crate we rented from Kathy!

So today was an exciting and major breakthough!! I've been petting Siena, through the bars of the crate with a large cosmetic brush that I taped to a flower stake, except I also was poking my fingers through the bars and petting her myself. In a short time I had all my fingers through the crate and she was rubbing her head in my hand!!!! Then she realized it was me petting her, smelled my fingers and then started purring!!!! When we finished she hissed at me! Ha! I guess just to make sure I wasn't getting to cocky!

Jinxie is doing very well. She's very calm now and while I pet Siena with one hand I'm petting Jinxie with the other! Pretty easy! Wonder how long it will be before I feel it's safe to stick my arm inside the crate or finally let Siena out? I'll be very cautious with the letting her out part and I'm sure I'll do it several times without Jinxie available!!

We're thrilled that this is actually working!!!! Always thought it was a meant to be!! And who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks??? Jinxie is almost 8 and never had a cat around, now she's almost willing to share her space!! She'll be completely willing shortly, I'm sure of it!!

Love,
Ellen, Loyd, Jinxie and now...Siena!
