FORT WORTH - A Fort Worth Zoo employee went to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after one of the attraction's exhibits got a little too close for comfort.
A female employee was treating a sloth in the facility's animal hospital when the creature bit her, according to Ramekca Owens, the zoo's public information officer.
Sloths are extremely slow-moving mammals known more for their massive claws than for their jaws.
"But as we like to say, everything that has teeth can bite," said Owens.
Fortunately, the wound was not serious, and the worker is expected to recover fully. The animal was not hurt, Owens said.
